One of the summer’s biggest rock tours is the co-headlining tour featuring Godsmack and Shinedown. The rock titans made a stop at the Greensboro Coliseum with Asking Alexandria in tow. This show brought some of their biggest, brightest, and loudest production to date.
Shinedown
One of the benefits of a co-headlining tour is that you can see an extended set of great acts. In this case, Shinedown[★★★★★] proved this evening that they deserve the rank of headliner with their upbeat performance and catalog of songs. Out supporting their sixth studio release Attention Attention, they wasted no time grabbing the audience’s attention with “Sound of Madness,” “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom),” and ”Cut the Cord” which was met with a barrage of laser light and pyro.
Zach Myers (guitar), Eric Bass (bass), and Barry Kerch (drums) added to this feast for the senses with engaging showmanship. Myers and Bass were routinely criss-crossing the stage making sure that fans got their money’s worth. Kerch pummeled beats from the best seat in the house.
Godsmack
Closing out the evening was Godsmack [★★★★]. Out supporting their newest release When Legends Rise and twenty years as a group, Sully Erna (vocals/guitar), Tony Rombola (guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass), and Shannon Larkin (drums) brought a slightly more aggressive set of songs to the coliseum. They kicked off their set with some newer material like “When Legends Rise” and “1000hp.” They brought them back to the band’s first single and a crowd favorite “Keep Away.”
Godsmack and Shinedown is one of the best post-grunge tour packages out right now. They bring the spectacle and awe of a top notch visual performance. They both deliver on decades of classic songs. This leg of the U.S. tour continues on through October and is worth checking out if you have the means. Check out the full review and photo gallery at Rezonatr.
